Norris family notes on trees, after 1802.

Brief descriptions of trees and shrubs, in alphabetical order by scientific name, together with extracts from horticultural works such as William Marshall's Planting and ornamental gardening : a practical treatise (1785) and Charles Marshall's Introduction to the knowledge and practice of gardening (1799). The latest dated item is an excerpt from a letter of 1802 (p. 3). About two-thirds of the leaves are blank. The last page has the beginning of a list of species, and inside the lower cover is a list titled Plants and trees growing at Fairhill about the mansion house. Fairhill was the Norris family estate in Northern Liberties or North Philadelphia. Pasted inside the upper cover is a printed table for conversion of currency, and a copy of William Faithorne's engraving Associatio linguarum, La ligue des langues, is laid in.
